About Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services

Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services is a nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based mental health services in East Tennessee since 1961. The organization provides a full spectrum of services to individuals dealing with various problems such as mental health and substance use disorders. Their services are offered in five counties in the community. Their “no wrong door” approach enables children, adolescents, and adults to receive access to high-quality behavioral healthcare services in a timely manner.

The healthcare organization has a specialized 16-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit located at the main office in Oak Ridge for adults who need acute care services. Moreover, the organization provides a variety of outpatient services that are meant to ensure the successful long-term recovery of individuals suffering from mental or emotional disorders. Through the provision of its services, Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services is a cornerstone in the healthcare industry in East Tennessee and aims at promoting the general well-being of the individuals in its care.

Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services Treatment Facility

Ridgeview provides behavioral health services as a fully integrated system and is the only provider in the area offering the full continuum of care from crisis intervention through long-term recovery housing. Their Oak Ridge campus provides an acute inpatient program, a Same Day Access walk-in clinic, and special programs such as “Mothers and Infants Sober Together” (MIST). This provides a smooth transition from one level of care to the next as the patient’s needs change throughout the recovery process.

The facility provides unique amenities such as psychosocial rehabilitation programs (Cornerstone and Stepping Stones) and supported employment programs. This provides a more holistic approach to the patient’s recovery and addresses the social determinants of health. It helps the patient develop independent living skills and provides meaningful employment opportunities. Ridgeview’s focus on community-based care is also shown through the mobile crisis programs and school-based therapy programs they provide. This provides much-needed services right in the community.

Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services Reviews and Ratings

Many reviewers show their deepest gratitude for the care provided in their time of need, particularly for their recognition of the dedication of their inpatient nursing staff. Reviewers also show appreciation for their ability to provide a safe haven for those in crisis and their recognition of the facility as a vital resource for those in their community with limited financial resources.

Families of those receiving treatment at Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services also show their appreciation for the professional and supportive staff of their outpatient therapy teams. Even though every experience in community mental health services may be different, it seems that for many, the services provided at Ridgeview were instrumental in their recovery.

I was frustrated about not being able to find any mental health help after a traumatic injury when I did a walk in at Ridgeview. They got me in the same day and I met with a counselor named David. He was absolutely fantastic. Not only did he truly listen and evaluate, he also gave me resources and direction on where to go for further help. He really cared about me as an individual and set me on the path to find the right type of help for my particular symptoms of PTSD. I am so grateful that Ridgeview was there when I needed it most. Thank you so much for your compassion and caring.

Filled out an immense amount of paperwork, waited for two hours, only to find out they don’t actually have the ability to get me the help I need. Sheesh.

I recently got back into ridgeview things were good at first but I was requesting anger management for like a couple months for my court and then I call back and suddenly they say they don’t have the recommendation and that since I missed one of my med appointments (due to not having a ride) they couldn’t write any letter to the courts about it. The way the lady on the phone spoke to me was just sorta rude about it even though it wasn’t like I missed the appointment on purpose and I know I called months in advance for the anger management this isn’t cool because I really did need the anger management done before court and I now have to pay to take the class.

The people who work here really care about you and helping you. The drs work with you and actually take what you say seriously. I’m very thankful and grateful for the support and encouragement that you’ve given me and no hospital food is great but they really try here. I just wanna say thank you so much for everything you’ve done to help me. I really respect this place and recommend it

I’ve used their services before but most recently when I tried going back for therapy. I went and got told to wait, I met with 2 people and my intake was 3 hours. It was only after I came back 4 days after not getting a call back they promised that they bothered to tell me there would be a waitlist. I’m grateful people are able to get help here but I’ve had too many instances where something wasn’t communicated properly through this building and I was left waiting and wondering if I’d get a response. I would not recommend this to a loved one unless they don’t wanna drive to Knox. The staff care more than most facilities and are educated but the system is flawed.

My experience was wonderful. The girl who did my intake paperwork was an angel. Her name was Jennifer. She explained everything so that it was easy to understand and made me feel so peaceful. Walking through the door to get help was so hard, but she made it easy. She reminded me that no matter where I am in life that I am still wanted and loved . Sobriety isn’t easy, but she is 100 percent the reason I am alive. Sometimes all you need is one person to remind you how loved and wanted you are and she is as that person for me. That day could have easy ended differently, but she changed something in me. Thankful for Ridgeview. The world needs more people like her.
