I went to Parkwest knowing there was something wrong. I was on prednisone for another condition, had no pain. Had an incident. They never checked me for a UTI. I calmed down but they still sent me to East Tennessee Behavioral Heath. They pumped me full of Drugs none for UTI. Kept me there for 10 days. I had calmed after 3. It was freezing in there. They made me pay with my credit card before they would release me. I got out and drove 700 miles to My 2nd home in Florida. Saw my Doctor down there. He confirmed a UTI. 10 days of normal medicine couldn't work to far gone. Had to have an I.V. infusion everyday for 10 days. I ALMOST DIED. DON'T USE EAST TENNESSEE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH.Posted on Google![]()

This place actually sucked. I go up there via ambulance, was left in the admissions room from 2:30 am to 5:30 am whist being sleep deprived, needing to pee and the office staff being to incredibly rude when I asked for help. I slept on the hardwood floor (I'm 14) just so I wouldn't be in so much mental anguish. I then get back into the intake blue room, we do the screening, they put me in paper scrubs, and I'm left in there until 7:45, when they put an ankle monitor on me and bring me to the pediatric unit. Admissions was the worst part, aside from having to have a doctor's referral for literally everything. You had to have a doctor's referral for an extra pillow man. 😒. The staff on unit is good until night shift, depending on what bunch you get. A lot of people in the peds unit talk shit about everyone and everything so watch your back if you are a minor going to the peds unit. Also Miss Jill if you see this I MISS YOU ♥️♥️Posted on Google![]()

The decision of East Tennesse Behavioral Health (ETBH) not to respond to the negative reviews herein is a failure, in my opinion. I can understand why, from a liability standpoint, ETBH probably cannot respond with anything detailed because that could be construed as an admission of guilt and make them vulnerable to possible legal actuon on the part of the aggrieved party. But it seems to me that a general response would be a show of good faith that they take the reviews seriously and are always working to improve patient and family care, etc.Posted on Google![]()

I am an EMT. I recently went through a traumatic, emotional experience while on shift as an EMT and started to experience SI. I was admitted to UT Medical on August 5th around noon. I won’t go into my time at UT Medical because that’s not what this review is for. I am reviewing East Tennessee Behavioral Health. I will not disclose the name’s the nurses or techs there because they do not deserve harassment, they deserve better, but so do the patients. I was admitted to East Tennessee Behavioral Health pretty quickly and to be honest that isn’t a fault of theirs, it’s a fault of UT Medical staff which I’ll get into with another review for them later. If you’re interested go check their page to see what I have to say about them. East Tennessee Behavioral Health is at its bare bones a psychiatric hold for those experiencing mental health issues. You can’t leave unless you are voluntary which I was. I thought I could stay to receive further treatment with my medication but that was obviously not a smart choice once I saw this place for what it really was. It was essentially a prison for people deemed unfit for the real world. And while the admins of this page scramble to discern my review, you can hold that thought a minute because I’m not speaking on your behalf. I’m speaking on the patients. In the 2 days I was there, I witnessed numerous “crash outs” from patients because they just wanted to go outside or just wanted to get medication they needed for withdrawal symptoms. And while you can make an argument for giving the patient the dose for their drug withdrawals, you can’t make one for going outside. There is a courtyard outside for the inpatient side of the facility and I see no good reason as to why a woman in your facility has to bang on the doors and beg just to see a tree outside. Your facility is a prison. One that doesn’t make any sense for anyone deemed mentally ill. You look your employees in the eyes and tell me they aren’t one bad day away from being a patient themselves. These people are humans, and yet the facility as a whole treated them like animals. Herded like cattle when all they want to do is be “normal” but apparently normal to you all is just when you can dope up a patient to shut them up. I’ve heard this is one of the nicer facilities though and for that I guess you can get two stars because at least the staff there seemed to give a damn about what they were doing but that’s about it for me. I wouldn’t be out of there if I wasn’t voluntary or if the nursing staff didn’t advocate for me that I needed a different level of care. But then that begs the question, who does need this level of care? Who needs to be dehumanized by blackout windows, triaging patients away from the public eye, and gaslighting of patients that they’re ok when they’re in a literal hell scape of a facility. The windows you can’t look out of. The staff wakes you up every hour throughout the night to make sure you haven’t offed yourself. You can’t brush your teeth for Christ sakes with a doctors order. So then that begs the question, who is this really benefiting? The patient? Or the company that the insurance pays a fat load of cash to keep the “nuisances” off the streets until their deemed “mentally capable”. Your facility doesn’t benefit the patients. It is depressing to say the least. Every time you wake up you just think how did I end up here because every day spent there is a day spent in hell. I’d also like to add that the facility strongly invoked me to go to their outpatient program starting tomorrow. August, 7th of 2026. “You’re insurance fully covered it” so they say. After some discussion with family who mind you, you can only call two times out of the day while you’re there, I have decided not to go to my outpatient appointment. Why? Because it’s in the exact same building that treated me like cattle. And if I was going to go to an outpatient facility, it wouldn’t be for a day with this pathetic excuse of a facility.
